This year’s Regent Park Film Festival will open with the RBC Emerging Directors’ Spotlight & Pitch Event. This event entails industry professionals Clé Bennett (actor), Min Sook Lee (director), Dawn Wilkinson (director/screenwriter) & Sharon Lewis (director/actor) will discuss their experiences in the film industry which includes how they got started and Cory Bowles (actor/director/choreographer) is be the host of the conversation.

Afterward, 4 short films will be screening created by directors of 26 years or under younger. Once the shorts are presented the filmmakers will pitch their feature idea to a panel for a cash prize. These films explore the complexities of immigrant life, colourism, and the fables of slavery.

Throughout the festival their will be an interactive screening library and hub where film, art, and community intersect called the festival lounge and will be sponsored by The Reel Asian Film Festival, National Film Board of Canada (NFB), Inside/Out LBGTQ Film Festival and the imagineNATIVE Film & Media Arts Festival.
