On August 1, 2014 the new documentary portrait Altman directed by the Canadian documentary filmmaker Ron Mann (Comic Book Confidential, Grass) will screen at the TIFF Bell Lightbox in there Summer Special Events Program with both Kathryn Reed (Robert Altman’s widow) & Ron Mann in attendance.

One of the great filmmaker of the 20th & 21st century, Robert Altman’s films include classics like M*A*S*H, The Long Goodbye, Nashville, McCabe & Mrs. Miller, California Split, The Player and Short Cuts as well as more independent and generally less well known films like Secret Honor (Lords of Treason) & Tanner ’88.

This is an opportunity to hear from Kathryn Reed (Robert Altman’s widow) directly about this filmmaking giant who ,as the TIFF page states, at times had received “worldwide praise and sometimes scathing criticism”. The film was co-produced by Reed and directed by Ron Mann. To quote TIFF “Altman is a loving yet clear-eyed tribute to one of the true mavericks of the American cinema.”
