RIIFF 2015 – HAPPYGRAM

Festival Screening – August 8, 2015 @ 6:30PM at The Bell St. Chapel

Happygram explores one of the most egregious violations of informed consent in modern medical practice. Each year nearly 40 million women obtain screening mammograms for the early detection of cancer. For 40% of those women, those with dense breast tissue, a mammogram is an ineffective screening tool, missing up to 75% of cancers. As a result of an ineffective, one-size-fits-all screening program, the incidence of late stage cancer has not budged in the United States. 40,000 women still die of breast cancer each year, despite the fact that many of these women have been screened regularly for breast cancer.
