Dish – Women, Waitressing the Art of Service has World Premiere at Hot Docs

Dish – Women, Waitressing & the Art of Service is director Maya Gallus’s most recent film. Her previous film Girl Inside won a Gemini Award for Best Direction In A Documentary and played festivals worldwide, including Hot Docs. Her feature Doc Erotica: A Journey Into Female Sexuality, was nominated for Best Arts Documentary at Hot Docs as well as for a Best Feature-Length Documentary Genie and premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Her first film Elizabeth Smart: On The Side of the Angels, played the festival circuit around the world include Toronto, Boston and Canada House in the UK.

DISH takes us from the iconic ‘eggs-over-easy’ diner and truck stop waitresses in Toronto to the gritty and glamorous “sexy resto” serveuses in Montreal. DISH also takes the viewer to the elite world of haute cuisine in Paris (where female servers are simply unacceptable) and the bizarre maid cafes of Tokyo (where modern-day geisha tread a fine line between the art of service and servitude).
