White Pine Pictures is proud to present the Canadian premiere of FIGHT LIKE SOLDIERS DIE LIKE CHILDREN at the 2013 Hot Docs International Documentary Film Festival. This special presentation comes hot on the heels of its sold out screenings at the prestigious IDFA in Amsterdam and the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival in the U.S. Directed by Patrick Reed, the latest feature documentary by White Pine Pictures follows retired General Roméo Dallaire as he returns to Africa on a new mission – to eradicate the use of child soldiers.

In 1994, General Roméo Dallaire received orders to stand by as a genocidal civil war engulfed in Rwanda. 800,000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus were slaughtered in 100 days. Dallaire returned to Canada a disillusioned and shattered man. Still haunted by these memories, the celebrated author and humanitarian has embarked on a new mission: to bring his passion and dedication to ending the recruitment and use of children as soldiers around the world.

Director Patrick Reed, researcher and producer on Shake Hands With the Devil, White Pine Picture’s Emmy Award-winning film that chronicled Dallaire’s experience in Rwanda, now follows Dallaire through the DR Congo, Rwanda, South Sudan and North America as he meets with child soldiers, self-defense groups, militia leaders and those trying to demobilize these children.

Based on Dallaire’s 2010 similarly titled book, this riveting documentary makes clear the critical importance of his work. The TVO-commissioned film is directed by Patrick Reed and produced by Peter Raymont and Patrick Reed for White Pine Pictures. It is distributed worldwide by Films Transit International.
