Flickers: Rhode Island International Film Festival (RIIFF) Call for Entries

from RIIFF

FLICKERS: Rhode Island International Film Festival (RIIFF) is now accepting entries for its 15th Annual Film Festival to be held August 9-14th, 2011 at venues throughout the state of Rhode Island. The highly prestigious, world-class event is consistently ranked as one of the top Film Festivals in the United States. Academy Award-qualifying, RIIFF presents an exciting program of over 200 films throughout Rhode Island, seminars and post-film parties and gatherings, and is attended by more than 300 filmmakers and film professionals from around the world.

New England’s largest film festival, RIIFF has been repeatedly cited by Moviemaker Magazine as one of the “Top 25 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee,” and has earned the respect of domestic and foreign industry, filmmakers, filmgoers and trend-watchers. True to its reputation, RIIFF’s program is largely built from submissions, and not from the programs of other festivals. New and seasoned filmmakers alike present their work to audiences passionate about indie film at RIIFF annually. The Festival also honors exceptional screenplays and teleplays in its Screenplay Competition.

Five films that premiered at RIIFF have won Academy Awards, and another eleven have been nominated, while many have garnered distribution from companies like HBO, Cinemax, Sundance, Showtime and IFC. Alum Karen Price (HOUSEQUAKE) emphatically states, “I wanted to reiterate what a nice experience we had screening at the RIIFF. The enthusiastic audience and attention by reporters, along with the award I received, made the trip and screening most gratifying. I have only the most positive reviews to share with others about our experience.” And to quote Chris Gore, RIIFF is “one of the best international film festivals and top 10 short film festivals in the United States. RIIFF provides the kind of intimate festival experience that will change your life. Don’t miss it.”
