Helena From The Wedding NY release date

Helena From The Wedding will open at The Quad in New York City on Friday, November 12th, followed by a limited national theatrical release.

In this nuanced and funny portrait of marriage, two newlyweds, Alex (Lee Tergesen) and Alice (Melanie Lynskey), host a New Year’s Eve party for their closest friends at their remote cabin in the mountains. When Alice’s friend brings along a surprise guest—the very young and beautiful Helena (Gillian Jacobs)—the group’s facades begin to crumble.

Helena From The Wedding grew organically from a screenplay that first-time filmmaker Joseph Infantolino. Shortly after marrying, he felt compelled to write about the lives of young 30-somethings who are struggling with varying states of romantic entanglements. He says that, “the film is my attempt to capture the feeling between the fading of youth and the beginning of the rest of life.” In constructing Helena From The Wedding, Infantolino worked from a model he had developed as a shorts filmmaker, creating a story that he could self-finance (by selling his modest 1 bedroom NYC apartment) and produce with a small cast of fresh and talented actors.
