TORONTO – Hot Docs and documentary Channel are pleased to announce that eight emerging filmmakers from across the country have been awarded coveted spots in this year’s documentary Channel Doc Accelerator Scholarship Program, a new professional development initiative to foster the next generation of Canadian documentary talent. Selected from almost a hundred applicants, the eight participants will be provided with All-Access passes, round-trip travel to Toronto and accommodation at the 2015 Festival, taking place April 23 to May 3. They will also be provided with a customized conference itinerary and participate in specialized workshops and sessions focusing on storytelling, funding and producing, the art of pitching, and promotion and distribution. Afterwards, they will receive paid on-the-job skills training and mentorship with leading filmmakers in their hometowns.
