IN HER PLACE World Premiere @ TIFF 14

IN HER PLACE a film by Albert Shin

World Premiere – Toronto International Film Festival 2014

Albert Shin and Igor Drljaca return with another World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. IN HER PLACE, written, directed and edited by Shin, will debut at TIFF 2014 in Shin’s hometown.

A mysterious woman arrives at a Korean farm, to stay with a mother and her strange teenage daughter. A mutual arrangement ties them together, but the apparent stroke of luck proves fraught with unresolved turmoil and tragedy.

This is the emotional landscape of Albert Shin’s drama IN HER PLACE – a remarkable and moving look at the emptiness that can haunt us, contrasted against our existential need to “replace” ourselves with offspring.

IN HER PLACE stars Yoon Da Kyung as an urban woman fleeing her own life of omission. Trying to avoid telling her friends and family the truth, she moves in with an impoverished farm-working mother (Kil Hae Yeon), and her lonely teenage daughter (Ahn Ji Hye), who are key in maintaining her lie.

IN HER PLACE was a labour of love, years in-the-making” says director Albert Shin, “that would not have been possible without the amazing support I received from colleagues and collaborators both in Korea and Canada alike. To be able to finally share all our hard work to the TIFF audience is truly an honour, especially for a hometown filmmaker.”

IN HER PLACE will be distributed by A71 Entertainment Inc.
