INDIEGOGO INITIATIVE FOR ROUGH TRADE CAROLE POPE FILM

Straight Edge Films and 422 Films announce an indiegogo crowd funding initiative for a new film project, ROUGH TRADE, which celebrates the sexy, raucous art and music scene of the early 1980s and specifically Canadian icon Carole Pope and her band, Rough Trade.

Core Realty Group will present Cream: A Fundraiser for Rough Trade, a feature film about the life of Carole Pope, a WorldPride 2014 Affiliate Event on June 28 at WrongBar (1279 Queen St. W) starting at 10pm, which will launch the indiegogo campaign. The event will include a full live set by Pope, a special guest DJ set by Peaches, and local talent DJ Vee Stun of Vag Halen will open the show.

“Carole Pope is a legend and a trail blazer,” said producer Jan Nathanson of Straight Edge Films. “We are thrilled to be making a film that will celebrate a seminal era in rock music and focus on one of Canada’s most provocative and barrier-breaking artists. This is a film that Carole’s fans and anyone who loved that era of music will get behind.”

Added 422 Films producer Andrew Boutilier, “The crowd funding campaign is a great way for us to secure support for ROUGH TRADE and get the word out and I can’t think of a better way to kick it off than with a World Pride party fundraiser. We are deeply indebted to Core Realty Group whose tremendous support has been invaluable to us.”
