TORONTO – After 15 very successful days of celebrating the continent’s top-shelf indie cinema, the European Union Film Festival (EUFF) is thrilled to announce this year’s Audience Choice: The Netherland’s historical drama ADMIRAL, directed by Roel Reiné.

A passionate epic filled with spectacular battle scenes, ADMIRAL, tells the story of one of the Netherlands’ most famous naval heroes: Michiel de Ruyter, who in the 17th century played a pivotal role in securing a future for the country during a time of both international and internal turmoil.

Following ADMIRAL, the 2015 EUFF top 5 audience favourites are:

2. António-Pedro Vasconcelos, Cats Don’t Have Vertigo (PORTUGAL)
3. Elmo Nüganen’s 1944 (ESTONIA)
4. Károly Ujj-Mészáros’s Liza, The Fox Fairy (HUNGARY)
5. Jiří Mádl’s To See The Sea (CZECH REPUBLIC)

A resounding success, Toronto’s 11th annual European Union Film Festival ran November 14 to 28, 2015 at the Royal Cinema, with the largest public attendance on record. Latvia and Luxembourg shared this year’s co-presidency.
