In this 53rd year of the Gijon International Film Festival their will be many films screening in different sections from November 20-28, 2015.

During the festivals fifty three year’s and have had many important & prestigious members of the film industry attend the festival in different years. They have included: Abbas Kiarostami, Aki Kaurismäki, Todd Haynes, Pedro Costa, Paul Schrader, Joao Cesar Monteiro, Emir Kusturika, Juraj Jakubisko, Amir Naderi, Seijun Suzuki, Jem Cohen, Kenneth Anger, Ulrich Seidl, Hal Hartley, Lukas Moodysson, Tsai Ming-liang, Claire Denis or Todd Solondz just to name a few.

During the Festival their are many different types of events including courses, round tables, meetings with the directors as well as concerts and music live parties.

The Festival is also offering three Master Classes that take place during the festival and are free to people who register.

The first class will be with Apichatpong Weerasethakul on Tuesday November 24. He will be accompanied by Luis Miranda, director of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria International Film Festival.

On Wednesday November 25 a lecture will be held on Cinema and Pediatrics , attended by Javier González de Dios, author of the book series dedicated to the relationship between cinema and pediatrics. He will be accompanied by Fernando Comas, delegate of the Asturias National Association of Health and pediatrician Venancio Martinez.

The third class, on Thursday 26, will focus on the fiasco of the Treasury under the supervision of OXFAM. In attendance will be Susana Ruiz, responsible for Tax Justice, Department of Campaigns and Citizenship and Javier Suárez Pandiello, professor of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Oviedo.

For each Master Class will have a maximum capacity of 150 people.
