NXNE FILM presents

Stones in Exile
Closing Night Gala – June 19, 9 p.m.
Toronto Underground Cinema – 189 Spadina Avenue

TORONTO, May 27, 2010 – NXNE Film is proud to present the Canadian Premiere of Stones in Exile as the Closing Night Gala. Fresh from Cannes Film Festival, Stones in Exile is director Steven Kijak’s look at the creation and impact of the 1972 Rolling Stones album Exile on Main St. The 2010 re-release of Exile on Main St. is currently the Number One disc in the UK, marking the Rolling Stones first Number One in 16 years.

At the end of the 60’s the Rolling Stones were at a turning point: hounded by the press, battling drug busts, and facing possible financial ruin. The band threw down the gauntlet and decamped to the south of France to begin the most arduous recording sessions of their entire careers for an album that, in time, came to be regarded as one of the greatest rock and roll albums ever made – Exile on Main St.

NXNE Film runs June 16-20, 2010, at the National Film Board, Bloor Cinema, Toronto Underground Cinema, Royal Cinema and the Hyatt Screening Room. The full NXNE Film schedule will be available June 1, 2010 at www.nxne.com.

16 Years, 650 Bands, 50 Stages, 40 Films, 15 Conference Sessions, 7 Days.
The North by Northeast (NXNE) festival experience takes over Toronto with the best new bands and international headliners, screenings of dynamic music films, compelling conference village sessions, rock n’ roll keynotes and insights from the most forward-thinking interactive media innovators, and a charity soccer match. This year’s festival runs from June 14-20, 2010. Visit NXNE online at nxne.com.
