2016 Nantucket Film Film Festival

The opening night film for the 2016 Nantucket Film Festival is LIFE, ANIMATED a documentary about a severally autistic boy and the way his father is able to finally connect with him.

Life, Animated
Synopsis:

After years of struggling to connect with his severely autistic son Owen, Ron Suskind discovers that Disney animated films provide the key. Using a puppet from Aladdin, one of Owen’s favorite movies, Ron is able to build a bridge between them, forging a way into his son’s previously closed-off world. As Owen develops into a young man and takes steps toward independence, he continues to draw from his beloved Disney tales to provide a sense of connection, understanding, and joy. Combining clips from Disney classics with brand-new animation that imagines Owen as the hero of his own adventure, Academy Award®-winning director Roger Ross Williams crafts an inspirational, real-life fairy tale and warm coming-of-age portrait. The winner of the U.S. Documentary Directing Award at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, Life, Animated kicks off NFF with an unforgettable story of the magic of cinema, and of a family’s love and determination.
