Toronto, February 9, 2011 – A new initiative by Hot Docs and Filmkontakt Nord, docXchange is a two-part program aimed at fostering professional development and offering potential financing opportunities for interactive documentary projects. docXchange invites North American and European producers working on an interactive documentary project to submit to the program, which will consist of a three-day workshop from May 1 to 3 at Hot Docs in Toronto and a one-day financing forum on September 28 at Nordisk Panorama in Aarhus, Denmark.
Project registration will open on Friday, February 18, with a final application deadline of Friday, March 4. For more information, visit docXchange.
At Hot Docs, docXchange participants will connect with decision-makers, experts and other professionals from Europe and North America working in the documentary cross-media field, taking advantage of educational development opportunities and hearing from first-rate digital media experts. From these projects, 10 will be selected to be publicly pitched at the docXchange financing forum in Aarhus before an international panel of financiers of documentary cross-media productions. After the pitch, individual meetings will be arranged between pitch teams and financiers.
docXchange is open to applications from North American and European producers working on interactive documentary projects. A maximum of 24 projects will be selected for the workshop at Hot Docs, which runs April 28 to May 8. From these, a maximum of 10 projects will be selected for the financing forum at Nordisk Panorama, running September 23 to 28. docXchange is looking for producers with a creative, well-researched documentary production that has international appeal, is produced with a user-friendly, interactive digital media inventiveness, and is currently in development or pre-production. Projects should come from a team with a proven track record in either the field of documentary or interactive digital production. Participants should have an openness and willingness to participate in a group learning and mentorship process as part of advancing their own project.
docXchange is an initiative of Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival, Filmkontakt Nord and Århus Cross Media Initiative, with the support of MEDIA Mundus – a Programme of the European Union and The Nordic Council of Ministers.
