ALL THAT I AM

Eighteen-year-old Emilie moves back home with her mom and step-siblings after living in foster care for several years. As she slowly gets reacquainted with her family and adjusts to life on the brink of adulthood, she gathers the courage to start a conversation with her younger step-siblings about the real reason their father is imprisoned. How do you speak to children about consent and sexual abuse? How do you move on and create a future when your past continues to trigger trauma? All That I Am follows Emilie over two years, as she moves into her first apartment and testifies against her stepfather in a compensation case. This sensitive and patient documentary gives vast emotional insight into her victories and setbacks and relates abuse through the everyday therapeutic solutions that make her feel safe—her comfort animal, restraining order and roommate. The aftermath of abuse is seen in process, a swelling and shrinking that is managed, never mended. Angie Driscoll
