First wave of 11 titles to be released in theatres across Canada

Eleven award-winning and critically acclaimed documentaries from this year’s festival circuit have been acquired by Blue Ice Docs for the Canadian market.

“We are extremely excited to have been able to secure such an impressive body of non-fiction work for Canada”, said Smith, CEO. “This first wave of titles acquired by Blue Ice Docs illustrates our commitment to developing relationships with the best non-fiction filmmakers at work today and demonstrates that we’re on the right path towards growing the theatrical documentary space in Canada”.

The films represent a range of content and style from character driven docs like Advanced Style and An Honest Liar to films looking at arts and culture like Born To Fly, The Last Impresario, and Arts and Craft, to the archival history that is The Decent One. Social justice and activist docs acquired include Academy Award nominated director Marshall Curry’s Point and Shoot, Divide In Concord, Miners Shot Down, Everyday Rebellion, and The Secret Trial 5.
