Flickers Partners with SIGGRAPH

Rhode Island International Film Festival to showcase regional filmmakers through new international partnership

Rhode Island International Film Festival (RIIFF) announced a new partnership with SIGGRAPH (Special Interest Group on GRAPHics and Interactive Techniques) in Canada. SIGGRAPH has given Flickers a programming slot in their five-day interdisciplinary educational exhibition. Flickers will utilize this spot to show a reel of fresh, provocative and exciting themed content featured in the Rhode Island International Film Festival to be entered into SIGGRAPH’s live action short film category. The program will be composed of work created by local and regional filmmakers.

“We are very excited about this new partnership,” said George T. Marshall, Flicker’s Executive Director/CEO. “This marks a significant explanation in Flickers’ mission and outreach by positioning the festival in the field of interactive technology and computer graphics. Add to that the exposure we will be providing for our own local filmmakers, then you have a partnership with remarkable potential.”

The convention will begin in Vancouver on August 12, two days after the close of this year’s Flickers: Rhode Island International Film Festival.
