Gemini Awards Return to CBC With Live Broadcast

CANADA’S STARS SET TO HONOUR THE BEST IN CANADIAN TELEVISION THIS SEPTEMBER

The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television is pleased to announce that CBC will be the exclusive broadcaster of the 26th Annual Gemini Awards which will be broadcast live on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 8 pm ET/PT from the CBC Broadcast Center in Toronto.

The 26th Annual Gemini Awards will be held in Toronto over three nights. The Industry Awards will take place on Tuesday, August 30 and Wednesday, August 31; the Red Carpet Gala will take place on September 7 at the CBC and will be broadcast live on CBC Television. The full list of nominations, as well as host, special musical guests and presenter details will be announced in the coming weeks.

Launched by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television in 1986, The Gemini Awards honour outstanding achievements in the Canadian English-language television and new media industries. The Gemini Awards bring together over 2,500 of Canada’s most gifted craftspeople, producers and decision-makers over several evenings of special events.
