PANORAMA SIPS THE VINTNER’S LUCK

Panorama Entertainment has acquired all rights in the U.S. to Niki Caro’s THE VINTNER’S LUCK from the New Zealand Film Commission.

THE VINTNER’S LUCK, which had its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, is directed by Niki Caro (WHALE RIDER), and stars Academy Award Nominees Vera Farmiga and Keisha Castle-Hughes along with Jeremie Renier and Gaspard Ulliel.

THE VINTNER’S LUCK is based on the best-selling book of the same title by Elizabeth Knox which the New York Times described as “Original, often astonishingly vivid”. Set in early 19th century France, the film tells the story of Sobran, an ambitious young peasant winemaker and the three loves of his life – his beautiful and passionate wife Celeste, the proudly intellectual baroness Aurora de Valday, and Xas, a fallen angel who strikes up an unlikely friendship with Sobran which endures for his entire life. Niki Caro describes the film by saying “THE VINTNER’S LUCK illuminates the most tender and unusual of relationships – that between man and spirit.”

“Panorama is thrilled to be associated with such a thought-provoking and stunningly beautiful film. Niki Caro is a brilliant filmmaker, and she has surrounded herself with incredible talent on both sides of the camera”, said Stuart Strutin, President of Panorama Entertainment.

The Film is having its U.S. premiere this month at the Sedona Film Festival, and will continue to screen in domestic festivals, with a theatrical roll-out planned in the spring and summer.

Speaking from New Zealand, Caro said she was thrilled Panorama is releasing her film in the US and premiering it at the Sedona Film Festival, “The film got a great response from the festival audience in Toronto, and I hope the Sedona audience enjoys it just as much.”
