The Free Screen: Canadian Pacific: Films by David Rimmer @ TIFF

from TIFF

Conceived as a status report on the long-term restoration project on Canadian avant-garde great David Rimmer’s oeuvre undertaken by preservationist Mark Toscano at the Academy Film Archive in Los Angeles, these two programmes of restorations and newly struck prints — David Rimmer I: Surfacing and David Rimmer II: Variations — offer Toronto audiences a chance to discover or reacquaint themselves with the early work of one of Canada’s most important experimental filmmakers. Rimmer will be joined onstage by Toscano and Toronto filmmaker Mike Hooolboom for post-screening discussions during the two-night spotlight that will take place March 22-23.

*Short added to David Rimmer II: Variations
