Whistler 15 – Opening Night Film – CAROL

Screening Time – Wednesday, December 2 @ 8pm

Based on the novel by Patricia Highsmith, and set in 1950s New York, CAROL tells the touching story of a romance between a department store clerk, and an older, married woman. In the parlance of the times, it’s ‘a love that dares not speak its name’.

When CAROL first premiered at Cannes earlier this year, the reviews were ecstatic and Rooney Mara won the Best Actress award. The film also won the Queer Palme d’Or award, and the jury had this to say while bestowing its award: ‘…more than a movie, it’s a moment in history.
