Whistler, B.C. (November 16, 2010) – The Whistler Film Festival (WFF) is proud to announce the three jurors selected to adjudicate the 2010 Borsos Competition for Best Canadian Feature Film. Distinguished actor Bruce Greenwood (Jury President), prominent producer Don Carmody, and filmmaker Sophie Deraspe, who was the 2009 Borsos Award recipient, will preside over the six films in competition for the prestigious award and $15,000 cash prize. New for 2010, Whistler’s New Voices International Feature Competition, featuring a $10,000 cash award, will showcase six innovative and original narrative films from around the globe by directors with their first or second feature and will be judged by Bingham Ray (Jury President), Callum Keith Rennie, and Philippe Falardeau. Awards will be announced on Sunday, December 5th at the Whistler Conference Centre.

“After an arduous selection process the festival winnowed down the films in competition to a mere six, it was a difficult task as there were many wonderful films submitted,” says Borsos Jury President Bruce Greenwood. “Don, Sophie, and myself will have a challenging time deciding on who the final winner will be.”

The Borsos Award represents Canadian cinematic excellence at the heart of the WFF. Considered a ‘filmmaker’s festival’ this award celebrates independent vision, original directorial style, and the diversity of talent found in Canadian independent film.

The Borsos Award for Best Canadian Feature, presented by the Director’s Guild of Canada – British Columbia, is named after legendary Canadian filmmaker Phillip Borsos. The six films in competition for the 2010 Borsos Award (Good Neighbours, Hard Core Logo II, The Bang Bang Club, Jo Pour Jonathan, Small Town Murder Songs, and The Whistleblower), will be judged by three jurors.
