TJFF 15 – SOFT VENGEANCE: ALBIE SACHS AND THE NEW SOUTH AFRICA

First Festival Screening – Sunday, May 3 @ 5:30pm

From multiple award-winning director Abby Ginzberg, this inspiring film presents “the introspective freedom fighter, legal scholar and future constitutional court justice in triumphant moments of strength as well as tender moments of vulnerability” (Tablet). Fighting against South African apartheid, Albie Sachs worked tirelessly to unite all South Africans for a better future. Exiled for being a “traitor,” Sachs went on to pursue additional education as a lawyer in England. With Africa calling him, Sachs left Europe to join the rebuilding of newly independent Mozambique, while struggling for the emancipation of South Africa’s black population.
