Festival Screening – Thursday, May 7 @ 6pm
Director Felix Moeller (Harlan: In the Shadow of Jew Süss)… [investigates] the power, and potential danger, of cinema when used for ideological purposes” (Telluride Film Festival). Of the over 1,200 films made in Nazi Germany, more than 40 are still banned in Germany due to their propagandistic and incendiary content. This film features clips and discussions of the banned films, including Jew Süss. Moeller travels to Berlin, Paris, Munich and Jerusalem to speak with scholars and regular moviegoers, youth and the elderly, to question if these forbidden films ought to be preserved and available to the public.
